The course will cover everything you will need to know to make perfect coffees. It is suitable for anyone wanting to kick start a career in coffee, brush up on the basics or learn how to get the best out of a home coffee set up.
Classes are run in our training space at our beautiful new roastery in Birkenhead.

Class numbers are at a maximum of only two students.
The course is 2 hours long and covers four sections.
We cover a lot of theory backed up by plenty of time spent on the coffee machine.
We will cover the three variables. Grind consistency, dose and tamping and how each of these impacts on the espresso quality. We also discuss how to judge if an espresso is good and theories behind brew ratios.
We teach that milk steaming is a two-part process, the stretch and the roll.
How to manipulate the milk while steaming to achieve the desired temperature and texture for every coffee.
This section will cover how to pour each coffee on the menu. Pouring techniques to achieve the perfect coffee, and of course a bit of latte art.
Cleaning and maintenance of all the equipment that should be carried during a shift as well as cleaning down all equipment at the end of the day.
At the end of the course, we will send you home with a fresh bag of Be Specialty coffee.
Our 101 course is just the start, we will also be providing advanced courses. If there is something, in particular, you would like to learn please ask.
